The new version of Glasgow Hostels web site is now live and incorporates the very latest AJAX technologies (try the online booking system!) and links to Royal Bank of Scotland to handle live deposits. This has been a very challenging development as the client has used several different developers (all of whom messed him about) and in the end I decided that upgrading to XHTML / CSS 2 / and .NET would help his marketing and make it easier to add WorldPay integration.
The new site is available at www.glasgowhostels.com and uses our SQL Server 2008 database, AJAX, .NET 3.5, LINQ to SQL, our e-commerce components, and much more. Check it out!
We host this site and the client has been trying to get WorldPay integrated into it since early May. We took the project on last week and after getting confirmation from the client that they wanted us to do the work we managed to completely rebuild the site in less than 4 days on a new platform and integrated e-commerce.
We will be revisiting this site in the next few weeks but our next job is to launch a major marketing campaign in Yahoo, BING, and Google. We have a few more sites to develop for this client and once this site development has been paid for we expect the marketing activities to provide a significant boost in visitor numbers.
