We have now started work on the web site for the Las Coronas Apartments in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. This is a very complex development and we are seperating it into different development strands:
- Apartment owners intranet. This will store AGM documents, legal documents, accounts, and so on. This will be built on our Sharepoint Server and give the owners a brilliant way of communicating and sharing documents - particularly important as some of the owners don't live in the complex.
- Apartment owners forums. We are using YAF for this bit as it is free to license and runs really well on our network. It will be linked to our SQL Server 2008 for data storage and will be password protected and only available to the owners.
- Owners control panel. We will write a dedicated control panel allowing the owners to add content to the public facing web site. This will incorporate AJAX and will be built using Microsoft .NET 3.5.
- Public facing site. A showcase for the complex with contributions from the owners (photos and recommendation for restaurants etc, apartments to let etc) built using .NET 3.5 and AJAX.
- Mailboxes. We will be supplying every apartment owner with a mailbox on our high performance mail server and providing them a private Instant Messaging System and access to their mailboxes via Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, and even the latest smartphones and Blackberry Devices.
This is an exciting development for us but will be deployed very quickly as most of the components are already available and installed on our network.
